I am always happy to have a chat about
my dogs and answer any questions you might
have about Border Terriers,
so please don't be afraid to contact me (and if I don't know
the answer I will always
point you at someone who does). Tel: 01275 542120.
Although sprightly and active Border Terriers
do not need lots of exercise and will go several days without a walk. My
dogs favourite places are large open grassed fields and beaches. My bitches
insist on chasing Seagulls........even though I know, they know, they will
never catch one...its great fun to see them enjoying the chase and the
excitement of freedom.
I will definitely not sell
our pups (my babies) for export outside the UK & Eire so please do not ask.

This
is Buster (front) and Buffy (rear age 5 months) on Glastonbury Torr Spring 2006. Both are
in the middle of their strip cycle
in this picture.
Buffy is now a Grizzle as is her father Buster. Although in
this photo she looks like she'll be a Blue & Tan like her mum - but she fooled
us all. It just goes to show how unique a Border Terrier is.
We live in Whitchurch on the outskirts of Bristol at the base
of the Mendips. Read my detailed Border Terrier information

Border Terriers need
to be hand stripped at least twice a year, although some need more
and some need less, this is the only essential maintenance. Like every dog
you should keep their teeth clean either with a doggy toothbrush (which is
fun for both of you) or dental chews (just fun for your dog). If you run
your dogs in the country (like us) with not much hard path walking, you
will need to cut their nails at regular intervals.

This is
Buster (stud dog) on
his favourite bed..........two weeks after
stripping.
If you decide to leave them un-stripped they will look
like over-stuffed shaggy teddy bears. Please resist the temptation to use
clippers as this will destroy their beautiful coat and it will never be
waterproof again (and it will never grow
back either). Apart from stripping (costing abut £40 Feb 06) they are like a
normal dog.
If you feed, love, exercise them (when you can) and respect
their intelligence you'll have a loyal friend for the rest of his / her
life.
Border Terriers are "sunny" dogs and always happy. They are intelligent and often
appear to have a sixth sense because of the way they behave and "know"
about things. You will have to spell some words around a Border Terrier
and even then they will quickly learn it (WALK, CAR, DINNER, LEADS, KIDS,
SEASIDE, FOOD).
They are good with children but
like any dog, they will not tolerate painful or unkind play. Generally
they will walk away if they get hurt, some will walk away gruffly and bark
as they go (often to their favourite place, not always their bed).
As long
as your children respect their new friend and teach him / her to play fun
games they will have a loyal and trusted friend
for his / her entire life.
